True to our mission, we are committed to ‘Nurturing Talents, Developing Character, Inspiring Lives’ in an environment conducive to learning, teaching and friendship and we envision staff and students to be “Learners. Thinkers. Leaders”. By 2015 we aim to position Greendale Secondary as a choice school for an exceptional holistic educational experience. Underpinning the school vision and mission are our core values:
R³ISE - Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Integrity, Self-Discipline, Empathy
Each day students pledge to R3ISE above life’s challenges. These values are ingrained through our revamped Character Education programme, which is founded on Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and infused with outdoor learning activities to create memorable experiences.
A pulsating term 1
Building on last year’s successful Jogathon, we staged an enjoyable walk-a-jog at Sengkang-Riverside Park as part of our fund-raising initiative for our needy students and for the various school development projects. It was heartwarming to see the number of parents who turned up to support and take part in the Jogathon – let’s keep it up!
Term 1 culminated in a series of level camps in the last week. The Sec 1s learnt to use mind-mapping as a tool for creative thinking while the Sec 2s picked up some life-saving skills and experienced a 3D2N outdoor adventure camp at Pulau Ubin. The Sec 3s went on an overseas adventure camp to Pahang and the Sec 4/5s were primed for the upcoming GCE examinations with a range of motivational and resilience-building activities. It was indeed an exhilarating end to the term!

The year ahead
In Term 2 we will celebrate Honours Day on April 15 and prepare for the Mid- Year exams which will commence on 11 May 2011. The highlight in Term 3 will be the School Innovation Week and our school will carry out a series of engaging and exiting learning experiences for all our students. In between we have the Inter-class games competitions, and Racial Harmony celebrations and National Day celebrations to keep up the buzz ….
Let us look forward then to the rest of the year with unbridled optimism and a renewed sense of purpose. Together, let us R3ISE above each challenge and live the school motto as our own: to Serve others, Lead by example and Excel in all endeavours!
