The Angklung is a traditional musical instrument originated from Indonesia and it consists of two bamboo tubes which are attached to a bamboo frame. The base of the frame is held with one hand while the other hand shakes the instrument quickly from side to side. This action creates a pleasant sounding note and when angklungs of different pitches and lengths are played in an ensemble, a melodious tune is produced.
The Greendale Angklung Ensemble (GAE) was formed in January 2007 with members coming from different levels and races. The ensemble comprises two sections: the Angklung and Kulintang. Pupils also learn how to play the Sunda Drums.
