Mr Syed Faisal is one of three winners of the Outstanding Youth in Education Award (OYEA) 2011.He was selected from 13 finalists and shortlisted from a total of 317 nominated teachers.
The OYEA is a national award that recognises excellent young teachers for their enthusiasm, energy and active involvement in the development of youth beyond the formal curriculum. All OYEA awardees receive a trophy and citation certificate. They will also be fully sponsored to attend an overseas professional development trip.
No man is an island and for Faisal to have attained this award - many of his achievements through school activities would undoubtedly have required your support and contribution in some way, so in some way it has been a TEAM GREENDALE effort.
However, little is known of how much volunteer work Faisal puts in outside of school to nurture youth – he is a committed volunteer of 4PM and goes the extra mile to help youth in many ways. For that and many other individual achievements, we congratulate Faisal for rising to be one of the best teachers in Singapore !

Syed Faisal Syed Ismail believes that all students can develop to their full potential. He believes that both academic development and values are important aspects of education. Faisal’s advice to his students is that while they should begin with the end in mind, they should also value the process in reaching the outcome, to always try their best and learn to overcome setbacks.
As part of the level-wide activities, Faisal takes charge of the Secondary 4 motivation camp to inspire students to find their purpose in life, and build their self-confidence towards taking up challenges. Through a service learning project, he has created awareness of the consequences of bullying, and continues to strive to promote a bully-free environment within the school.
Faisal’s inspirational leadership has touched the hearts of his students, and motivated his first batch of Secondary 4 Normal (Academic) students to excel in their studies in the N-levels examinations. He also played a critical role in leading the school’s NPCC Unit to do very well in its programme.

For his zeal and positive mindset, Faisal is conferred the Outstanding Youth in Education Award 2011.
