Organised by North cluster and hosted by Riverside Secondary School, this inaugural competition was opened to all secondary schools in the North Cluster. Titled ‘Saluran-i” this creative competition was to encourage the use of Malay Language, learning of Malay Language through the creation of commercial and promote students’ creativity in the creation of quality commercial in Malay Language. Each team had to produce a 3-minute advertisement/commercial with reference to the given theme - pollution. Video recordings of the commercials was analysed by a panel of judges who picked 6 schools with the most creative interpretation of the theme to present to commercial “live” in the finals on 26th March 2008.

Our school was proud to be represented by 4 secondary 2 girls, Nur Atiqah (2E1), Humarirah (2E1), Siti Masturah (2E2) and Putri Illyana (2E2) who had dilligently interpreted the theme and produced the script. Despite their hectic schedule, they had tirelessly rehearsed almost every day after school and improvised their acting unde the supervision of Malay Language teachers for the past two weeks. Their sincere effort paid off when they received very positive comments ala Singapore idols after their performance and they were crowned first runner-up! The team had really done Greendale Sec proud! They truly embodied one of or school’s values - determination
